DOMINIQUE JACKSON: Honestly, the world wasn't holding me back.
I was, because I was believing the world's view of me.
So I realized that I had to get out there, and every rejection meant that it was things-- so thriving for me came from my actualization, my realization, that this is me.
The homelessness, the heartache, the pain, all that stuff-- that chaos exists outside of me, right?
I can't step into the chaos.
Even though it seems like it should be a part of me, even though it's about me, I had to learn to step away from that chaos and focus on me.
And it's in stepping out of the chaos, out of the name-calling, out of the family issues, out of the feeling bad for myself.
You thrive when you understand you, and you understand that you are not competing with anyone but yourself.
